The 7-14 is a pregnant monster with a steep cap for a cover. I love the sharpness and is my visual reference as to how sharp it can be. I am quite sayang to let it go but I am attracted to the small size of the 9-18 and 7-14 Micro Four Thirds lenses.

Are you permanently in NZ now? Keep in touch. I initially asked if I could just purchase the body of E-PL1 only from the seller, because I intended to wait for another deal and grab the panasonic 20mm F1.7, and I would be happy with just the combo. Nonetheless, the seller said he would only sell the PEN with the kit lens, and I fully understand his position because the kit lens would not go on its own due to its reputation !!
Nonetheless, as much as there is to complain about the mk1, I think it is still a fine lens to use. I have enjoyed it so far, and I am not overly impressed, but still generally happy and satisfied with what it produced.
Oh and the PEN, such a beautiful camera. The Olympus colours, straight out of camera JPEG look so good I feel lazy to click anything during PP.Robin Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02572566037297158455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1370316940986801480.post-5367036915583836662011-03-15T07:40:17.067+11:002011-03-15T07:40:17.067+11:00Great info! I primarily got my E-P2 for the video and that I could use my existing Four Thirds lenses, but I've been much more open to taking the small cam with me to casual locations (e.g. when I'm just shopping). It's not that I don't care about it, but I feel more comfy having it with me versus the much larger, heavier and more expensive E-3. I'm also impressed that Oly used an f/1.8 lens; is/was wonderful on the C5050.Imre Z. Particularly on the wide angle zoom issue. A lot of people seem to still want to keep that "zoom reach" or zoom range, even when a wide angle lens is all about going to the wide end.
I also dislike comments made on smaller sensors being less superior. You do not judge the camera solely on sensors !! Like you said, practical experience matters.Robin Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02572566037297158455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1370316940986801480.post-33141436548310972682010-09-25T11:53:55.331+10:002010-09-25T11:53:55.331+10:00It was a 127 roll film, you are correct. I loved the XE-1 - it was amazing how when I was just a Uni kid, I could afford a solidly made machine like the XE-1. The X-700 was a technological marvel, more for the manufacturer than the owner, I still have it. Unfortunately the XE-1 has not survived well over time. The black mirror box flocking disintegrated all over, the edge sponge because gooey and the silvering of the mirror slivered all over.Ananda Simhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10687537365243419292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1370316940986801480.post-18601683580033506682010-04-30T22:02:51.818+10:002010-04-30T22:02:51.818+10:00You mentioned you used to shoot also with a Minolt...You mentioned you used to shoot also with a Minolta. It was not sunny, I was setting full aperture and shooting into 6 ft across parade motion, so AF was not fast enough. I was not keeping the ISO high enough. Then there would be sudden sun breaking through the clouds and high contrast scene appears.
